about Jamey
Jamey Pearson is a lighting designer and scenic electrician with extensive experience in professional theatre. With a background spanning theatrical lighting, production electrics, and scenic systems, she brings a detail-oriented, solutions-driven approach to every project. Her work focuses on the technical execution of creative visions, balancing precision, efficiency, and collaboration to bring each production to life. Whether working alongside designers, production teams, or fellow technicians, Jamey is passionate about finding thoughtful and practical solutions that support the artistic and technical needs of a production.
Jamey's journey into theatre began in her hometown of Belton, Texas, where she often found herself waiting for her older brother to finish rehearsals after school. What started as time spent backstage quickly grew into a fascination with everything happening behind the scenes. Within a few years, she was sewing costumes, building sets, and programming cues into the lighting console. That early curiosity soon became a passion, leading her to the University of Evansville's theatre program. Originally intending to study stage management, she discovered a stronger interest in lighting and ultimately earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Lighting Design & Technology.
Following graduation, Jamey built her career through hands-on experience in theatrical electrics, progressing from electrician to lighting supervisor and head electrician while continuing to explore opportunities as an assistant lighting designer. Her professional experience includes working with companies throughout St. Louis and Chicago, including several years as Electrics Supervisor at Stages St. Louis. These experiences have shaped her understanding of both the creative and technical sides of production, allowing her to approach each project with an appreciation for the collaboration and craftsmanship that bring theatre to life.
Today, Jamey continues to pursue opportunities as a production electrician in the greater Chicago area, bringing together her technical background and creative interests to support compelling live performances.
